Well the market is over for another year - and if you missed it - well you missed what was probably the best event ever. Great stalls, terrific weather (remember 2010?) fabulous entertainment - especially the school choirs performing on our splendid new bandstand, all in the incomparable setting of Northumberland Square.
A big thanks to our stallholders, entertainers, and especially the army of staff who made it all possible.
We'll do it all again in 2012 so put Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December in your diaries now!
A new Bandstand for the Market!

The 2011 Market will see the unveiling of a new bandstand, which has been built to our specification by Key Enterprises in Benton. Replacing the old wooden structure which had come to the end of its useful life after more than ten years of faithful service, the new bandstand is steel framed and provides more space for performers whilst being capable of assembly on site in less than half a day.
We're delighted that we have such a splendid structure to form the centre piece of the market for many years to come - so make sure that you visit the market on either Saturday 10th or Sunday 11th December this year, and see for yourself why we're so delighted with our new baby!
Welcome to KIER North Tyneside!

The NSVCM Partnership are delighted to announce that KIER North Tyneside will be supporting the market this year by providing electrical and other services for the event at no charge. This is a major boost for the Market which is run as an independent not for profit operation. We are very grateful for the financial support which we receive each year from our existing partners; North Tyneside Council, The Beacon Shopping Centre and The North Shields Chamber of Trade and also to the YMCA for their donation towards the cost of our splednid new bandstand which will be unveiled at the 2011 market - see story on this page.
100 and counting!

Organisers of this year's market are delighted to announce that the 100th stall has just been sold, thereby putting the market well on course to be one of the biggest ever held.
All other arrangements are now in place with a full programme of supporting entertaiment planned including the return of the ever popular Punch & Judy show and Bill Brookman's team of entertainers. The bandstand is fully programmed with a whole range of school's featured. The market will be opened by North Tyneside's elected Mayor, Linda Arkley at 10:00 am on Saturday 11th, and the traditional carol service to launch the market will follow the opening ceremony which will also feature stars from Snow White, playing at the Playhouse Whitley Bay.

Fine crisp dry weather ensured that the 11th annual North Shields Victorian Christmas Market, held over the weekend of 12-13th December, was rated 'best yet' by stallholders and visitors alike. Over ninety stalls selling everything from foodstuffs to holly wreaths did a roaring trade all weekend and the market was so busy on the Saturday that the Hog Roast sold out by 2pm!

Stallholders' upate

Prospective stallholders for the 2009 market should note that we can NO LONGER accept applications from stallholders selling jewellery as we now have sufficient stalls of this kind. All other types of stall are still welcome to apply as we do still (as at end of August) have some places available.
